Heavy maintenance and overhaul of tramways, subways and rail cars requires the skills of assemblers. These skills are shared by two Mipirail members: SAFRA and CAF. Furthermore, in June 2016, Siemens Mobility opened its global headquarters in Toulouse to run its Val automatic metro business.
Mipirail members' MRO know-how for rolling stock and automatic subways primarily concerns:
• Interior and exterior renovation
• Design, manufacture and assembly of body elements and complete systems
• Research and development, engineering, project management and maintenance of automatic subways
• Loading, unloading and round-trip train transport
• Major overhauls
• Work generated by changes to external livery and interior fittings
• Preventive maintenance for articulated trains
• Inspection of chassis and structures as well as reparative and preventive corrosion treatment
• Study and execution of interior and exterior modifications and improvements, as well as the production of documentation related to these modifications
• All necessary overhaul work based on inspections and/or observations during disassembly.
